"Remember Me As A Place" June 2019-May 2025 Exploring the intersections of migration, identity and memory through the lens-based practices, I draw upon my personal journey as part of the Venezuelan diaspora. Through intimate portraits, landscapes and archival images I document the resilience and cultural ties of my family spread across the globe. Our story begins in Ecuador, where my mother and her 12 siblings were born. After migrating to Venezuela, life was a mixture of hope, connection and abuse. Once we moved to the US, we partly assimilated and fervently chased the American Dream. This project is a heartfelt tribute to the bonds that transcend borders, inviting viewers to reflect on their own connections to place and memory. The scholarship funds will support the travel costs to document family members across the diaspora, including Chile and Mexico. My cousin Frangelys traversed the dangerous journey from Venezuela to Mexico by land and currently awaits her immigration appointment to enter the U.S. Remaining funds will go to printing costs for a solo exhibit with the Palm Beach Cultural Council May 2025. Produce 15 new photographic works that visually articulate the themes of memory and migration Design a layout of the exhibit Foster community dialogue by hosting discussions during the exhibit Make 10 new prints experimenting with different printing methods, materials and dimensions Add the 15 new images to my photobook draft to print a second draft
