Ongoing, 2022- Description: I live in the intersection of different oppressions and privileges, and the universe born of those intersections is what I explore in my work. Being Honduran, “mestize”, non-binary, migrant, and neurodivergent are aspects of my identity that I have often struggled to grapple with and reconcile, particularly because we, the peoples of the global south, have been largely left out of the conversations that defined the understanding of who we are. Much has been said, written, and theorised about us without us. This series explores the difficulties of understanding our identities when they have been constructed and imposed by others through centuries of violence and colonization. The research is particularly centered on migrant experiences of racialization and gender/sex dissidence. I, of course, have no claim on universal truths, nor am I interested in them. This is the narration of a journey shared with my ancestors and the communities I’m a part of, a history of resistance and contradictions. This is what living in my intersections means to me. Plan: Producing more images and turning it into a photobook, contributing to expand archives and research literature created from within marginalized communities. The money would be put towards making said book. Goals: -Publishing photobook -Production of audiovisual material -An exhibition -Collaboration with artists/curators on collective projects -Connecting to migrant/POC/Queer led art initiatives
