"Les femmes de roses" 2023 - 2025 In my long-term project, I accompany women in the rural rose-growing region of Kalaat M'Gouna, Morocco. This project explores the lives of women in a male-dominated society, with a focus on their solidarity and the symbolic power of the Damask rose, which flourishes in this region. In the rural areas, women's solidarity is particularly strong and essential. In an environment with limited freedoms, the community offers comfort, support, and resources for women. Plan of action: The success of my documentary hinges on building and deepening trust with the women I’ve met, enabling me to capture more intimate images and create a cohesive body of work. Through portraits, symbolic still lifes, and staged images (often in collaboration with the women), I aim to provide a deeper insight into their lives and the strong bonds that unite them. The rose, a central symbol in this project, represents femininity and strength, while its inherent fragility adds depth to the narrative. In Winter 2024 and April 2025, I will further strengthen the relationships I’ve established and create rose images during the rose festival. Financial support from the Lucie Emerging Scholarship would cover travel and living expenses for this time-intensive project and also exposure. - producing 25 new images - create strong symbolic images - producing a recording of the women singing together (exhibition) - producing a book dummy - exhibition in 25
