The UN's SDG 2 is about creating a world free of hunger by 2030 and focuses on finding sustainable solutions to stop world hunger. Currently, natural resources necessary for human survival are decreasing due to climate change. Severe weather conditions, like droughts and floods, have become more common and affect harvests, leading to less food for human consumption. Breeding and eating insects are sustainable practices that can help us reach our goal. Insects are rich in proteins and highly sustainable due to their minimal environmental impact in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and water & soil consumption. As a result, researchers are studying the most sustainable and cost-effective ways to promote the use of these insects as human food and as animal feed. In Italy, researchers are studying the most sustainable and economical ways to guarantee the diffusion of this product, focusing more on the use of these as feed for farms of fish, chickens, and pigs. My proposal aims to expand the path I have undertaken in Italy to other parts of Europe. First, I will visit one of the largest insect farms authorized to produce and sell in Europe, located in France (Yinsecta). Then, I will move on to the production of shelf products based on insects such as pasta, crackers, protein bars, and chips in England (small giants, fusible). I will start in December 2024 and finish in March 2025. My 5 goals are 20 images, 5 prints, an exhibition, a publication, and an interview.
