Start: June, 2023. End: June, 2026. The river is a loom, the thread is a mountain explores the textile colonies along Catalonia´s Llobregat River — self-contained industrial communities built under a paternalistic system that exchanged welfare for exploited labor and restricted freedoms. Drawing on archival photographs transformed into textile patterns and extended into sculptural forms, the work performs a symbolic archeology of these landscapes, tracing how discipline, hierarchy, and control were woven into daily life. By reworking the archive into material form, the project connects the repetitive rhythms of past labor to the enduring logics of exploitation that continue to shape contemporary structures of work and life. PROJECT PLAN The scholarship funds will be allocated toward producing new installations from the photographic archive, experimenting with different fabrics and recovered objects, and covering production costs related to printing and textile experimentation. This support will also allow me to begin developing an experimental sound piece with hydrophone microphones and alternative devices. PROJECT GOALS 1. Generate a new series of 7 archival-based textile patterns. 2. Produce 10 photographic prints of the colonies landscape. 3. Develop 5 textile-based sculptures or installation prototypes. 4. Expand experimentation by producing 3 new works with industrial materials recovered from the colonies. 5. Initiate the creation of an experimental sound piece
